On the 21st of February, NORA hosted the first CuttingEdgeAI-seminar, which marked the launch of a new series of events for NORA.ai. The goal of the Cutting Edge AI seminar series is to democratize AI by providing an accessible platform for researchers, students, practitioners and the general public alike, to gain knowledge, exchange ideas and collaborate on AI-related projects. At this inaugural Cutting Edge AI Seminar, which focused on Large Language Models, the Norwegian AI Community managed to move one step closer to that goal, with over 300 participants following the seminar online and over 100 physical attendees in Domus Bibliotheca.

What a year 2022 has been for NORA and for AI in general! AI research has propelled, and AI products have really reached the consumer market. This past year, I have walked around in a wrestling club in Frederikstad, suddenly overhearing people discussing how they applied AI. I think that this is a sign that AI has really reached the general population. People have become aware that they can actively use AI. They use it for making nice pictures of themselves, which they use as avatars or put on Instagram. Some have also played around with language models like ChatGPT.
It is with great excitement that we welcome Ruter, Posten and the Norsk helsenett (NHN) as strategic partners in the NORA Industry Network!
