NORA – The Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium – aims to strengthen Norwegian research and education within artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics.
NORA is a collaboration between the University of Oslo (UiO), University of Bergen (UiB), University of Stavanger (UiS), The Arctic University of Norway (UiT), Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet), University of Agder (UiA), Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS (NORCE) and Simula Research Laboratory (Simula).

Syv norske universiteter og to forskningsorganisasjoner har gått sammen i en felles satsing på kunstig intelligens. Han som leder satsingen skriver om hvordan kunstig intelligens oppdager kreft, om hvordan den preger din opplevelse av internett og om hvorfor den kan diskriminere kvinner og fargede.

On Tuesday 14 th January 2020 Minister of Digitalisation, Nikolai Astrup, launched Norway’s first strategy for Artificial Intelligence, less than a year after Prime Minister and the Minister announced that the Government will be launching such a strategy.
Norway's first Facebook grant for UiT researchers

The machine learning group at UiT has recieved a grant from Facebook to conduct research on fake news and comment sections in social media. This is the first time Facebook has allocated money for research in Norway.

The world's largest network for artificial intelligence research, set up by experts across all of Europe, complements the new European Commission's focus on human-centred, trustworthy AI, aiming to create critical mass for AI made in Europe. Exactly for that purpose, the Confederation of Laboratories for AI Research in Europe (CLAIRE) was established.
