- We see many opportunities where artificial intelligence (AI) can be used, for example to improve digital maps in developing countries, or to map buildings after natural disasters, says Lars Martin Hodne. He and Eivind Hovdegård Furdal won the MapAI competition where they used AI to recognize buildings in aerial images and laser data (LiDAR).
