The new startup Factiverse was founded based on research by Vinay Setty. His research project from 2016 intended to find out what made news popular, and then identify fake news. One of his research publications was spotted by the technology transfer office in Rogaland called Valide. They contacted Setty and ensured a patent was secured. The startup is now being led by Maria Amelie as the chief executive officer and Setty as the chief technical officer. Recently five million NOK has been invested in the company and a grant of two million NOK was awarded by Innovation Norway.
