Reliable AI presented a collaborative project developed with the University of Oslo. The demo showcased DANTE, a reliable and transparent fewshot tool that aims to make NLPdriven qualitative analysis accessible to researchers without extensive programming experience. The project builds on prior work using text embeddings to enable more efficient and insightful qualitative analysis. At the conference, Reliable AI operated an exhibition stand and engaged actively with attendees throughout the day. Cofounder Jonas Timmann Mjaaland recalled that the principal challenge was not persuading people of the demo’s relevance but encouraging researchers to engage beyond their usual social circles: “The hardest part was not convincing people to care; it was to make the researchers overcome the universal academic instinct to avoid talking to people you don’t already know. Luckily, we succeeded at exactly that. With the help of several cups of excellent Italian espresso provided by the conference hosts, we kept our energy up during eight to nine hours of continuous discussions. At one point, around 30–40 people had gathered around our stand, which felt both encouraging and slightly surreal.”
This award exemplifies how academia–industry collaboration can produce impactful solutions to contemporary research challenges.
