On Thursday, 13th August, the national collaboration arena for artificial intelligence was launched, in the AI tent during Arendalsuka.
The collaboration arena has been commissioned by the Research Council of Norway, and shall contribute to knowledge, results and expertise from Norwegian AI research becoming more visible, and to a larger extent put to use.
During the launch, Executive Director at the Research Council of Norway, Anne Kjersti Fahlvik, shared the ambitions and expectations for the new arena. Michael Solvang, CEO of NORA, and Trond Moengen at Digital Norway, presented the partnership and the plans for the work ahead. Heather Bloomfield (KI Norge) was also present at the stage during the launch. Other central partners in the arena are Sigma2, NTNU, NHH and Innovation Norway.
– A central principle is that this effort builds on arenas and investments that already exist. Instead of establishing new, parallell structures, the arena will strengthen the collaboration between the actors that already make up the Norwegian AI ecosystem, says Solvang.
In its first phase, the collaboration arena will particularly work on making Norwegian AI research more widely available, coordinate dissemination and activities and create more direct links between researchers and organisations that want to implement AI.
The collaboration arena is part of the national AI investment (KI-milliarden) and will contribute to increase the visibility, effect and value creation of Norwegian AI research. The launch during Arendalsuka marks the start of the work to create stronger links between the research and the actor that will put this knowledge to use.
