Sabita Maharjan

How can artificial intelligence help make our cities smarter, greener, and more sustainable, not only in the future but also through technology around us today?

In this NORA Student Council-led webinar, Professor Sabita Maharjan will introduce the exciting field of Edge AI for Sustainable Cities, where intelligent systems process data closer to where it is generated, such as in sensors, buildings, energy grids, vehicles, and urban networks. This can support faster decision-making, lower energy use, stronger privacy, and more resilient smart-city services.

We will be introduced to how Edge AI can contribute to sustainable urban development, including smart energy systems, green computing, connected mobility, and secure data-driven infrastructure. The talk will also show why this research area is becoming increasingly important as cities face growing challenges related to climate, energy demand, digitalization, and responsible AI.

Whether you are interested in AI, sustainability, smart cities, energy systems, or future research opportunities, this webinar is a great opportunity to hear from a leading researcher working at the intersection of these fields. Join us to learn how Edge AI can help shape the next generation of sustainable cities, and how we can be part of that change.
