CuttingEdgeAI: Sovereign AI Infrastructure

Artificial intelligence increasingly depends on large-scale computational resources, data flows, cloud services, and secure networking. At the same time, countries and regions are exploring how to maintain strategic autonomy over critical digital infrastructure in a rapidly changing technological landscape.

CuttingEdgeAI: Sovereign AI Infrastructure brings together researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry representatives to discuss how societies can build and govern resilient, trustworthy, and competitive infrastructure for AI. The seminar will address questions such as:

  • What does sovereignty mean in the context of AI compute, data governance, cloud services, and foundational AI models?
  • How have past visions and expectations of sovereign digital infrastructure aligned with today’s reality—and what can we learn moving forward?
  • How can digital infrastructure be designed to meet strategic, economic, and ethical requirements?
  • What are viable alternatives or complements to global hyperscale cloud providers in ensuring greater sovereignty and control?

This seminar is part of the CuttingEdgeAI series, which aims to shed light on the latest developments in artificial intelligence that are important for research, innovation, and society in Norway and beyond.
