This UiB AI seminar is about artificial intelligence and trustworthiness. Can we trust AI?

In the past decade, artificial intelligence har achieved great technological breakthroughs, and it has became a natural part of research, education and work. However, for AI to gain broad accept in society, it is crucial that the systems that use artificial intelligence are reliable. Today's AI systems lack scientific definitions and clear criteria for values like justice, responsibility, safety, privacy and other important ethical aspects. There are also serious weaknesses within the legal frameworks that AI systems work within, and problems with accuracy and robustness within the systems.

To face these challenges and strengthen AI research of high quality at UiB, the Trond Mohn Research Foundation (TMF) and the University of Bergen (UiB) has developed the research program Trustworthy AI, or Pålitelig KI. In this seminar, we will present insights from this research program.

The seminar will be in English.
