Prof. Wiktorski is a Professor of Data Science at Department of Electrical and Computer Science, University of Stavanger, Norway, where he is also Program Director for Master’s in Computer Science and Data Science. His research covers area of Data Science, with particular focus on analysis of biomedical time series and DataOps. His other research interests include Data Science curricula development, data-driven approaches to energy and drilling optimization, and Big Data.
He received his MSc/BEng from Lodz University of Technology, Poland in 2007 (including scholarships at Carnegie Mellon University, USA and University of Alicante, Spain) and his PhD from University of Stavanger, Norway in 2011 (including scholarship at Stanford University, USA).
He managed and was involved in multiple research projects financed by The Research Council of Norway (RCN), European Commission (FP7 and H2020), and The Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (DIKU, former SIU). He was one of the initiators of building a new research datacenter at UiS (currently called CIPSI Cloud Computing Service). He is reviewer and rapporteur for EU Horizon and COST Actions.
He served as Program Chair, Track Chair, and Workshop organizer at several IEEE conferences. He is a founding member of IEEE Technical Committee on Big Data, and was a co-editor of IEEE Cloud Link; he is editorial board member, technical committee member and reviewer for multiple journals and conferences. He is a part of Expert Review Group for the upcoming EU ICT Body of Knowledge.
