NORA´s first PhD Symposium was a success
In the historic surroundings of Tøyen Hovedgård, NORA arranged its first PhD Symposium on 25th and 26thFebruary. The PhD Symposium was two-day lunch to lunch event about AI-related topics for PhD students; followed by an informal dinner and a social event. The event also marked start of the NORA Research School.
We are happy to see that the PhD Symposium was a success, both professionally and socially. The event was fully booked with about 80 attendees and lecturers, says NORA´s CEO Klas H. Pettersen.
During the two-day event, several lectures in the field of Artificial Intelligence were given. Among the speakers were Michael Riegler (SimulaMet), Hans Ekkehard Plesser (NMBU), Valeriya Naumova (SimulaMet), Simon Wolfgang Funke (Simula Research Laboratory AS), Arngeir Berge (NORCE ), Stefano Nichele (OsloMet), Anders Malthe-Sørenssen (UiO), Vinay Jayarama Setty (UiS), Tonje Hessen Schei (director of movie: iHuman movie), Christian Walter Peter Omlin, (UiA), Nello Blaser (UiB), Leon Moonen (Simula research laboratory), Klas H. Pettersen (CEO of NORA) and Ivan Dragicevic (NORA Research coordinator). See the entire program here. The program also allowed for mingling and networking, including screening of the new Norwegian movie iHuman.
The success of this Symposium has given us the assurance that such meeting place and learning arena is sought after and needed. We will organize such events in the future. In order to formalize and structure our work, we have now launched NORA Research School, and the Symposium marked the start of the Research School.
