NORA Webinar: Bridging a Gap! dScience – a new centre for Computational and Data Science
In this week's NORAs webinar, you will meet the people behind a brand new center at University of Oslo. dScience is an interdisciplinary centre that consolidates capabilities within computational and data science. The centre will contribute to better data understanding, increase data driven knowledge, develop artificial intelligence and manage uncertainty, regardless of whether the data comes from nature or from human-made systems.

The centre will be a hub within the university that connects research groups across disciplines and sectors. It will support research, education and innovation. dScience will actively initiate new and exciting collaborations and will be a resource for career development for students and researchers. The centre will also develop and make available digital services and tools. dScience will be co-located with NORA at the University of Oslo campus.
We have invited centre manager, professor and board member of NORA, Morten Dæhlen, to give us an introduction of dScience plans and organization. Assistant Director at USIT and head of digital resources at dScience, Gard Thomassen, will also give a short introduction to their plans for FAIR data and engineering support. In addition, we will be joined by some of dScience participants and researchers to discuss opportunities, expectations and collaborations.
- Morten Dæhlen – dScience
- Gard Thomassen – USIT and dScience
- Ingrid Chieh Yu – SIRIUS and Department of Informatics UiO
- Arnoldo Frigessi - Oslo Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology and BigInsight UiO
Panel discussion led by Klas Pettersen, CEO of NORA, after the presentations.
